As part of its monthly activities, Al-Nabaa Forum for Dialogue held an advanced, specialized workshop on political analysis in holy Karbala. The workshop featured lectures by Dr. Wathiq Al-Hashimi, President of the Iraqi Group for Strategic Studies, an expert at the Al-Nahrain Center for Strategic Studies, and a political analyst for Iraqi, Arab, and international channels; Associate Professor Dr. Saadi Al-Azzawi, a faculty member at the College of Political Science, University of Baghdad; and Dr. Essam Al-Feili, a faculty member at the College of Political Science, Mustansiriyah University. The event was attended by twelve participants of both genders from various disciplines, including political science, academia, journalism, directors of research and studies centers, and civil society activists.
Al-Hashimi stated: "Political analysis is defined as the process of examining potential trajectories of interaction among political forces within a society, providing a clear scientific explanation of the nature of relationships between these domestic and foreign political forces. It is also defined as the method by which we evaluate political phenomena and events locally, regionally, and globally; hence, it requires an understanding of a country's political reality and how that reality intersects with international politics." He added that "political analysis is not merely an explanation of conditions, but rather an understanding and awareness of what is occurring, alongside identifying the causes and motivations behind past and future developments, to reach an opinion that assists decision-making in resolving a political problem or phenomenon in society."
For his part, Al-Feili said: "During the workshop, which spanned over five hours according to its scheduled agenda, we presented a comprehensive overview in the first course, which focused on the theoretical and academic aspects. This included a complete definition of political analysis, its nature, benefits, tools, mechanisms, and historical stages, supported by numerous examples drawn from the Iraqi reality, as well as the regional and international context, alongside prominent historical and contemporary political analyses."
On another note, participants commended the forum organizers for conducting this advanced, specialized workshop on the art of political analysis. At the same time, they expressed their gratitude and appreciation to the lecturing professors for their efforts and the wealth of information provided during the workshop, calling for similar advanced and specialized developmental workshops and courses in other fields to empower the country with young talent capable of making its voice heard in the Arab and international arenas.
