During a visit to the headquarters of the High Commission for Human Rights in Baghdad, a delegation from the Al-Nabaa Forum for Dialogue proposed a joint memorandum of cooperation between the two sides to organize dialogue sessions, seminars, practical workshops, statistical studies, and joint human rights programs.
The Head of the Forum, Ali Al-Talqani, stated: "During the meeting with the Vice President and members of the High Commission for Human Rights, discussions addressed the role of civil society organizations and research centers in monitoring violations related to protests. A joint memorandum of cooperation between the two parties was also proposed to hold dialogue sessions, seminars, practical workshops, and statistics, as well as the potential for conducting joint programs in the field of human rights."
For his part, the Vice President of the Commission, Ali Abd al-Kareem Al-Shammari, noted: "During the meeting with the delegation of the Al-Nabaa Forum for Dialogue, discussions covered the role the Commission plays in all human rights issues in Iraq across various time periods, along with its function in monitoring, follow-up, receiving complaints, and taking legal action."
Meanwhile, Board of Commissioners member Amer Boulos Zíyya stated: "Through cooperation between the Commission and the Forum, we aspire to play a role in all matters concerning the rights of Iraq’s minority communities, as we are directly concerned with this issue. The Commission plays a major role in monitoring violations and tracking the affairs of displaced populations and minorities, particularly as Iraq experiences widespread displacement and forced migration due to terrorist acts that have impacted all segments of the Iraqi people. Therefore, we deem it necessary to establish close cooperation between civil society organizations and research centers on the one hand, and the Commission on the other."
