Dutch Ambassador to Iraq Begins Visit to Karbala with a Stop at Al-Nabaa Forum for Dialogue

The Dutch Ambassador to Iraq, Hans Sandee, began his visit to Karbala Governorate on Wednesday by visiting the Al-Nabaa Forum for Dialogue and meeting with the forum's head, Ali Al-Talqani, alongside forum members Dr. Hameed Al-Turufi and Mr. Ahmed Jwaid.

Speaking to Al-Nabaa News Agency, Al-Talqani stated: "The meeting featured a review of the entire scope of activities and endeavors conducted by the forum since its establishment to date, spanning political, cultural, and public service areas, research centers, freedoms, human rights, and support for the new political project in Iraq, in addition to the future of Iraq’s foreign relations with other states."

Al-Talqani added: "Among the other activities of the forum that we reviewed during the meeting were supporting interfaith dialogue, cultural and civic movements, social institutions, childhood and humanitarian aspects, and holding meetings with parliamentary figures to reform certain legislation in Iraq, alongside the future of political alliances, the Popular Mobilization Forces, and other key topics."

For his part, the Dutch Ambassador to Iraq, Hannes Lindbert Sandee, emphasized during the meeting "the necessity of maintaining communication with society and organizations, noting that Iraqis themselves determine their own interests, and we stand ready and prepared to provide counsel and support."

Hannes added: "We monitor human rights and, along with other countries, assess the current reality in Iraq and the space granted to civil society organizations to carry out their role."

The Al-Nabaa Forum for Dialogue witnesses visits from numerous figures, including foreign ambassadors, seeking to examine the nature of the movement supporting dialogue, rights, freedoms, and other social, political, and civic activities in Iraq, as well as the role of active organizations and forums.
