Claudio Cordone, the Deputy Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Iraq for Political Affairs and Electoral Assistance, affirmed that the mission supports freedom and political participation.
This came during his visit to the Al-Nabaa Forum for Dialogue in the Holy City of Karbala and his meeting with the Forum's head, Ali Al-Talqani.
Speaking to a correspondent for Al-Nabaa News Agency, Cordone affirmed that the United Nations cooperates with and listens to all voices among the Iraqi people, including civil organizations, particularly intellectual institutions, among them the Al-Nabaa Forum for Dialogue.
He added: "Communication is ongoing with the Al-Nabaa Forum for Dialogue, and we will explore practical ways to cooperate in the future."
Cordone emphasized that "the United Nations mission in Iraq supports freedom and political participation, alongside the necessity of maintaining space for freedom and expression."
