On Wednesday, the International Labour Organization (ILO) convened a discussion in the Karbala Governorate titled "Expanding Social Security Coverage in Karbala Governorate in Light of the Enactment of Social Security Law No. 18 of 2023," with the participation of the Al-Nabaa Forum for Dialogue and in the presence of relevant government institutions, labor unions, and worker federations.
Ali Al-Talqani, Head of Al-Nabaa Forum for Dialogue, stated: "We have been operating as a partner to the International Labour Organization since 2023, preceded by mutual visits and understandings regarding joint cooperation, supported by the European Union. Today, this program responds to the requirements of the next phase of cooperation, especially since we previously discussed this expansion. However, today, in the presence of relevant institutions and under the auspices of the International Labour Organization and the European Union, we are addressing the implementation of the law and confronting the challenges facing labor."
Al-Talqani added: "Through the Forum, we hope to provide a space and a dialogue environment among the three parties, the interests of workers, employers, and the government, alongside international organizations."
