Karbala – The College of Science at the University of Karbala launched its inaugural Career Fair, bringing together local businesses, entrepreneurs, government officials, university faculty, and students to strengthen ties between academia and the labor market.
The two-day event aims to establish long-term partnerships with private-sector institutions, equip students with market-relevant skills, and align higher education outcomes with workforce demands under the theme: "Science and the Private Sector: A Promising Partnership Enhancing Your Professional Presence".
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Dr. Jassim Al-Maamouri, Vice President of the University for Administrative Affairs, underscored the institution’s commitment to expanding corporate engagement and professional training programs to integrate academic study with practical career readiness.
Dr. Hassan Jameel Al-Fatlawi, Dean of the College of Science, noted that the college actively works across multiple channels to connect academic programs with industry requirements while continually updating curricula to reflect evolving economic needs.
Attending the opening, Ali Al-Talaqani, Head of Al-Nabaa Forum for Dialogue, emphasized the Forum’s ongoing commitment to initiatives that bridge the gap between higher education and the labor market. Al-Talaqani highlighted Al-Nabaa’s previous local and international contributions regarding Iraq's labor law, noting that such gatherings serve as a vital platform for public-private-academic dialogue to empower young professionals.
On the sidelines of the event's first day, Al-Talaqani held a series of meetings with the Dean of the College of Science, the head of the Academics Syndicate, and several educational leaders to discuss joint training initiatives and sustainable institutional partnerships.
Featuring specialized panel discussions and a corporate exhibition, the fair offers students and prospective graduates direct access to employers to explore career paths and prospective job opportunities.
