Baghdad – A delegation from Al-Nabaa Forum for Dialogue delivered a formal letter of condolence to the Vatican Embassy (the Holy See) in Baghdad following the passing of His Holiness Pope Francis.
Led by Forum Head Ali Al-Talaqani and accompanied by Forum staff, the delegation expressed deep sympathy and solidarity. During the visit, they stressed the enduring fraternal ties connecting the Iraqi people with Christian communities both in Iraq and worldwide.
For his part, Vatican Chargé d'Affaires Father Charles Lwanga noted that the Pope's passing highlighted the profound affection Iraqis hold for their Christian compatriots, standing by them in shared mourning.
Lwanga commended Al-Nabaa Forum for its outreach, emphasizing that the delegation’s journey from the Holy City of Karbala to offer condolences reflects genuine relations rooted in mutual respect and solidarity.
The meeting concluded with the Vatican Embassy (Holy See) expressing its deep gratitude to the Forum’s delegation for their presence and heartfelt sympathy during this solemn period.
